skills NOWs ”5 Steps” are practical activity based programs which are ideal for Retail Certificate II or III trainees or VET in school participants. The steps are:
- Skills and knowledge - trainer explains the skills and knowledge necessary for each unit (the ECs & PCs in everyday language).
- Notes & ideas - trainees read about the unit.
- Tasks - Q & As - trainees complete tasks to show that they have read and comprehended the notes and to encourage them to think about retail issues.
- Learning activities - to be completed in trainees’ stores or other outlets. Activities are suitable for trainees whether employed in retail or not.
- Assessment - trainee plays active role in preparing for assessment - all activities fully documented for easier and more thorough assessment.
With the demise of the former Noting process and its logo, all skills NOW packages are up to date with all learning activities mapped to ECs and PCs, they meet the new, National Quality Council (NQC) Product Specifications recommendations 9 and 10.
